Hello from the Music Room:

Dear Ordway Families,

Let me start by saying it has been such a joy getting to know your young musicians these past few weeks and I'm so excited to see such talent and love for music. Music class this year will bring us back to the basics of music; rhythm, note reading (solfege), singing and listening. Music fundamentals are an important part of music education and the building blocks to successful musicians.

Wednesday: December 18th @ 1pm - Students will gather in the gym for their Winter Sing-Along and share new and familiar songs. It will be a time for celebrating and hearing our 4th graders sing "Light Up the Tree". 4th grade parents are invited to attend.

Evening Performances! This year our students will have a chance to share with their friends and families at 2 evening performances. 2nd - 4th grade on Feb. 4th at 6:30pm and June 3rd for an all school (K - 4th) music celebration. Please stay tuned for more details with times, but mark these dates on your calendar. Students will be excited to show off their hard work!

The music room is a fun place where we have been singing songs we know and love and songs that are new and push us to work memorization, listening and working as a group. I also incorporate instruments such as rhythm sticks, xylophones, and shakers on a daily basis. I hope that each student can find something that sparks that love for music! Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions this year.

Sincerely,
Wendi Olinger

day of dead artwork
Bainbridge Art Museum - Day of Dead
As part of Bainbridge Island Museum of Art's annual Dia De Los Muertos Community celebration, 3rd and 4th-grade students have created textile and wire art to honor and remember ancestors, loved ones, or pets that have passed. This year, BIMA has organized a private reception exclusively for teachers, students, and families.

Please Join us at BIMA for a special celebration of our students' work during the Día de los Muertos Community Celebration. It will be a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and support students' creativity.
Please refer to the attached flyer for event details and RSVP information.
