I come from a family of teachers and have dedicated my professional work to various aspects of bilingual education. Beginning in 1992, I served as a K/1st bilingual teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District and was an evening instructor for the San Pedro Family Literacy Program. After marrying and relocating to the Pacific Northwest in 2000, I worked as a K-8 Spanish teacher and Academic Advisor for the BISD Mosaic Home Education Partnership. In 2012, I helped launch the island's first dual-language elementary program and I continue today as a kindergarten teacher for the El Velero Spanish Immersion Program at Ordway Elementary.

I was fortunate to grow up in a bilingual home where language and music were valued. My childhood was filled with summers spent in Mexico, enjoying my cousins and grandparents. I was born in Mexico City, raised in Southern California, and now call Bainbridge Island home!
