Dear Ordway Families,

I hope this finds all of our families well and enjoying the beautiful autumn weather and foliage. It is so fun for me to see our Ordway Otters when I am out and about with my family and grandchildren at the various fall festivities on Bainbridge! Here at Ordway there is great excitement for October’s Unity Day, Boo-Bash and Pacific Science Center Day of Science - all school-wide events that children love. We love our volunteers and the PTO has some sign ups below for guardians to help with these upcoming events.
This is also the season for parent-teacher conferences. The upcoming November conferences provide an opportunity for you to engage with your child’s teacher, discuss progress, and perhaps discuss goals moving forward. Please watch for communications from your child’s teacher about scheduling these conferences later this month.
Best, Debra

Did you know that you must Opt-in to the online school directory?
The school directory is found in Skyward and you Opt-In in order to share your contact information with other families. So if a family would like to reach out to you about a birthday party or play date - this is where they go to find how to contact you. The Ordway office cannot release your information. If this is of interest to your family and you haven’t done so, below is a guide on how to do this.
This is not a requirement, but not everyone understands that this is a choice your family has to make. Families are defaulted out, until they opt-in during the ABC process. So if you would like to have your contact information available in the student directory on Skyward Family Access, for other families to see please refer to the attached tutorial.

How to OPT-In to the Ordway School Directory
Dear Ordway Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades K, 1, 2 and 3. Our School Nurse will be conducting the annual Health Screenings of Vision and Hearing for grades K, 1, 2, & 3 on Monday and Tuesday, October 16th, and 17th, 2023. The intent of this screening is to recognize any obvious visual or auditory deficits which could have an impact on your child's ability to learn in school. You will receive written results of your child's screening. A separate notification letter will be sent to parents if the results determine that a follow-up visit to your child’s health care provider is recommended. If your child wears glasses, please make sure that they bring them to school on October 16th and 17th for their screening. If you do not want your child screened, please let our school nurse, Carol Beard, know as soon as possible. While 4th grade students are not required to be included in the health screening sessions, they can be screened by parent request – just let the nurse know if you would like your student screened. Nurse Carol welcomes any questions you may have regarding the screening process and/or your child’s screening results. Please contact her on 206-780-1453 or at cbeard@bisd303.org
