A Creative Start to the School Year

Dear Ordway Families,

It's been an exciting beginning at the Ordway Otter Art Studio! Our students have just completed their sketchbooks, and we're diving into the fall season with lots of artistic enthusiasm. This year, the art program will continue to nurture creativity while encouraging students to express their unique voices.
Throughout the year, students will explore a variety of art mediums, including painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media. They'll also learn about famous artists and the unique styles that influenced the art world. New activities like field trips and visits from guest artists will provide exciting, hands-on experiences that inspire students to find their artistic voice.

Upcoming Event: 3rd and 4th Grade Student Art Show

We are thrilled to announce that our 3rd and 4th-grade students will showcase their artwork as part of the Día De Los Muertos Community Celebration at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art on November 2, 2024. This event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate both culture and creativity. For more details and to reserve your spot, please visit www.biartmuseum.org/event/dia-de-los-muertos-community-celebrations.

Later this year, the Biennale Student Show at Bainbridge Art and Crafts Gallery will feature selected student works to share with our community.
Please feel free to email me with any questions, and stay tuned for more exciting updates as we continue this creative journey together!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Rodriguez

News from the Ordway Library
Each student received a cloth bookbag and painted their name on the bag in art class with Mrs. Rodriquez.

Bags are for transporting library books from Ordway School to home and back. At the end of the school year, I will collect the bags and save them for the following year. 4th graders will get to keep their bags as they move on to Sakai. Please help your child find a special place for the bookbag at home so it does not get lost.
