Principal's Note
Dear Friends,

Happy New Year and welcome back. Children arrived this morning with smiles and stories of their vaca/staycations. Watching them greet one another was heartwarming. As we step into 2025, I am filled with gratitude for our Ordway School community and the incredible partnership we share with our parents in supporting our students.

Announcement:

  • Amii Thompson, Superintendent; and Kim Knight, Chief Financial Officer, are meeting with each school community regarding the current budget deficit. Ordway’s Community Focus Group is scheduled for this Friday, 1/10/25 at Ordway from 10:50-11:50. Please sign up below:

Let’s continue to make 2025 a year of growth, achievement, and meaningful connections. Together, we can ensure that every child thrives academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
Debra

Join Superintendent Amii Thompson and Chief Financial Officer Kim Knight for Budget-Centered Focus Groups throughout the month of January. The purpose of these meetings is to hear what you most value at BISD and learn your ideas for ways to increase revenue and areas for possible reductions.

  • Staff Focus Groups will be held both in-person and via Zoom. Schedules have been shared
  • Community Focus Groups will be held both in-person and via Zoom. Each meeting will begin with an overview of our budget challenges, then we will break into smaller groups for discussion. Please see the schedule and sign-up information here.

Parking Lot Safety
A reminder - there is a safer, quicker way to drop off your child at school in the morning. The district driveway on the south side of Ordway! See the map below.

Pull in, wait a short time (if at all) drop your child off and they are greeted at the south door.

If you are using the Ordway parking lot - park in designated spaces ONLY. Do not block cars by parking behind them, or parking on curbs, or in handicap spaces. When you do, you create a hazard for others.

Please if at all possible, encourage your child to ride the bus routinely with drop off/pick up as the exception.
