Music Room News

Dear Ordway Families,

December finds the music room literally jingling with excitement! The anticipation of our annual sing-along is in the air and we're excited to share it with our classmates. Our Winter Sing-along will be on December 18th at 8am in the gym. 4th grade parents are welcome to come and watch their students sing Light Up the Tree; a 4th grade Ordway tradition. Stay tuned for more information about our end of year evening performance for ALL grade levels!

All grades are singing familiar holiday songs and learning about traditions around the world. Our composer of the month is Pytor Tchaikovsky because we can't talk about The Nutcracker and not talk about him. It's exciting to hear many of the tunes we know from The Nutcracker and play along ourselves with rhythm instruments, scarves and balloons!

As we finish up December, 4th grade will be starting recorders as soon as they return from winter break. 2nd and 3rd grade will start focusing on note names and singing using their solfege hand signs. Kinder and 1st will keep working on steady beat and adding songs to their repertoire while playing fun rhythm and melody games.

Thank you for sharing your amazing students with me and I hope that music will fill your lives during this time of year!

Sincerely,
Wendi Olinger

Toys for Tots

It's that time of year again! Ordway Otters who would like to donate a gift can bring a new unwrapped toy to the Ordway collection box just outside the main office. Donations accepted until December 12.

New Payment Option Now Available in the Office!

We are excited to share that our school office now has a credit card machine! Families can now conveniently pay fees, fines, and—most importantly—lunch balances right at the front desk.

Keeping lunch accounts current helps our food services staff source local ingredients, and this new payment option makes it easier than ever. We encourage families to check their child’s lunch account and take care of any outstanding balance before winter break. As always, families can pay online and we still accept cash and checks, but at school credit card payments provide another quick and secure way to take care of school-related costs.

Feel free to stop by the office to make a payment or check on your child’s account balance. We are happy to help!

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found will be donated on December 17th - the photo to the left is current as of 12/8/25. Thank you for labeling your child's clothing - this makes it easier for us to return it to you.

BSF Library Donations

This season, Bainbridge Schools Foundation is focused on updating book collections at all seven BISD schools. Many shelves need fresh titles that reflect student interests, celebrate diverse voices, and meet a wide range of reading levels.

Your gift helps put new, engaging books into the hands of students and supports strong literacy across the district. You can choose a specific school to support or select “Fill Every Shelf,” which directs your gift to the greatest need.

  • $10 = a new book
  • $50 = a small stack
  • $100 = a book bundle
  • $250 = a library shelf

Donation Link HERE

Every donation brings new stories and resources to students. If a school reaches its goal, additional support will help other libraries, and any remaining funds will advance BSF’s district-wide priorities.
