PRINCIPAL'S NOTE

Dear Ordway Families,

As January is drawing to a close, we are inching closer to March when a decision will be made about our school. Ordway is well represented on the School Consolidation Advisory Committee with parents and staff members working alongside representatives from every school, problem solving together around the budget deficit situation. During this process, please read/attend publicly held meetings to stay informed and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Looking forward to numerous upcoming fun events for children! For example, Valentine's season is going to be extra special this year and I am hearing BINGO night is coming back. Most exciting is that our Carnival committee has started planning for some new events this spring…I will leave you in suspense!

Please note our newsletter below includes the information nights that are being planned - El Velero will be held this Wednesday at 6 pm and Incoming Kindergarten will be held on the evening of February 6th at 6 PM at Blakely Elementary for all incoming BISD Kindergarten families.

Best,
Debra

EL VELERO INFORMATION NIGHT THIS WEEK - JAN 24

El Velero is a Spanish Immersion Options program housed at Ordway Elementary.

We have an information session coming up next Wednesday, January 24 at 6 pm here in the Ordway El Velero Kindergarten classroom.

This information session is for interested incoming kindergarten families for the 2024-25 school year. This meeting is also for families who have an incoming 1st -4th grader who are interested in enrolling their child in the Spanish Immersion program.

If your child is entering 1st-4th grade at BISD in the 24-25 school year and you would like to know more about the Spanish Immersion Program, please contact Ordway Office Manager Sarah Dunstan sdunstan@bisd303.org to discuss the 1st grade wait list and entrance assessments for 2nd-4th graders.

KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION NIGHT

Attention Parents & Guardians of the Class of 2037: It's time to discuss kindergarten!

Your child is about to embark on a wonderful milestone, and BISD is proud to be part of this momentous event. Kindergarten sets the foundation for your child's school career and puts your student on a lifelong path of learning.

While kindergarten is a time of great discovery, excitement, and growth, it is also a big transition -- for families and children alike! That's why when you enroll your student in kindergarten at BISD, your child will receive a high-quality education and gain a team of staff whose main goal is to help your student succeed intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

BISD KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION NIGHT*

WHEN: Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 6 pm.
WHERE: Blakely Elementary, 4704 Blakely Ave.
WHAT: Attendees will learn more about BISD's kindergarten program, the enrollment process and key dates. Representatives from all BISD elementary schools will be in attendance.

INTAKE FORM: Do you have a rising kindergarten student? Please take a moment to complete this form. (This is not the enrollment process but rather a way to learn more about your family_
*Note: This event is intended for adults. Incoming kindergarten students will have an opportunity to visit a kindergarten classroom at a later date.
