PRINCIPAL'S NOTE

Dear Ordway Families,

Children arrived this morning with a skip in their step!! Whether they had a stay-cation or traveled last week, they each seem happy to be back and ready to share their stories. Staff too, after conferences leading up to their vacations, are also ready to be back…and like this principal, have a case of Spring Fever. To add to our week, our PTO is planning an incredible Leap Year event for this Thursday, making our re-entry even more amazing. By the way, we searched and do not see a Leap Year Birthday here at Ordway - but if one of you has one, be sure to let us know. Also, a huge thank you to our PTO breakfast, lunch and dessert teams who provided Ordway staff with delicious meals during the conference days.

In closing, sincere appreciation to those who have stopped by, sent a quick email, or crossed paths with us over the vacation with enthusiastic ‘thumbs up’ to express such relief that Ordway will remain open.

Best,

Debra

CASCADE OF KINDNESS - RECAP

We're thrilled to announce that our Cascade of Kindness fundraising campaign was a great success, thanks to your incredible support and generosity! In just one week, we raised nearly $12,000 to benefit Ordway Elementary School. We are so grateful to our community for coming together to support all of our students and staff!

A special shout-out to our amazing first-grade families for dominating the classroom competition! Morris, Reyes, and Komatsu tied for first place with an impressive 100% participation rate. Stay tuned for more information on class prizes.

We also want to congratulate our last few winners of our daily prizes drawings: Holly Durbin (Island Cool Gift Certificate), Lucas Garrett (Carnival VIP Package), Sara Rellihan (Lunch with Dr. Dunn), and Adam Hadley (Madison Diner Gift Certificate). Whether you were a lucky winner or not, the support and participation of all donors is deeply appreciated.

While we've made significant progress, we're still a bit short of our $50,000 goal. If you haven't had the chance to donate yet, there's still time to help us end the year on a high note! Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and staff. Donate today!

Thank you once again for your support and generosity. Here's to a wonderful spring ahead at Ordway!

COUNSELOR'S NOTE - CHANGING FAMILIES

Ordway students whose families are experiencing or have experienced a separation, divorce or re-marriage may find that these family changes generate strong feelings which interfere with schoolwork, social adjustment, and friendships. While some children experience sadness it is also common for students to withdraw or act out in anger. It is often helpful for students to get together with other children experiencing similar feelings and talk with someone who is not emotionally involved in the family changes.

Ordway Counselor Janette Dodge will be offering groups for students first through fourth grade which will meet once a week for six weeks during their lunch time. Groups will start the first week of March. If you are interested in having your child participate in one of these groups, or have any questions please call or e-mail Janette Dodge at 780-1455/jdodge@bisd303.org by February 27th
